LOVE IS ON THE STREET
Love was in the air in Weatherfield over Valentine’s weekend with two happy couples creating their own soap opera romance by getting engaged on the cobbles.
The first took place on Friday 13th, which fortunately turned out to be lucky for the loved up pair, when Good Morning Britain staged an elaborate proposal at The Tour. Tom Norwell contacted the programme to say he wanted to surprise his girlfriend Klaire McIntyre with a proposal live on air, weeks of planning then followed to come up with the perfect proposal.
A private early morning tour was set up for the couple under the ruse that they had won a competition, two crew members and three team members from Coronation Street The Tour joined them posing as competition winners. During the tour, Good Morning Britain presenter Laura Tobin, surprised Klaire by telling her Tom had something special to say to her.
Live on air, Tom got down on one knee and said: “I love you so much Klaire, you mean the world to me, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?”
She said yes!
The couple were then showered with confetti and serenaded by the Mariachis. Another surprise was in store for Klaire when family and friends appeared to join in the celebrations. They later congregated inside the Rovers Return for a celebratory toast.
Tom and Klaire took some time to explore the cobbles and grab a picture on our new photo opportunity, Tim and Sally’s lips sofa.
Proposal number two took place on Valentine’s Day with Mark Joslin creating his own bit of drama by surprising girlfriend Greta Ireland and popping the question outside the Rovers Return. Her answer of yes received a round of applause and cheers from other visitors.
The Corrie Tour team were on hand to pop open the champagne and present the couple with chocolates from York’s Chocolate Story and some heart shaped balloons.
